Someone asks if you can help them this weekend.
Usually, you would say yes. This time you already have plans. Nothing important. You were just looking forward to having the day to yourself.
“Sorry. I can’t this weekend.”
“No problem.”
They don’t sound annoyed. They don’t ask why. A few seconds later, you’re talking about something else.
But part of you stays behind.
You could probably change your plans. Maybe they really need the help. You wonder if you should have explained more.
Later that evening, you think about sending another message.
You don’t.
But saying no has somehow left you feeling like there’s still something you need to fix.
