You get in trouble. There are raised voices. You say something back. Eventually the argument ends.
But it isn’t over.
At dinner, they don’t look at you. You ask a question and get a short answer. You say goodnight and barely hear anything back.
The next morning, it’s still there. You aren’t sure what you’re supposed to do, so you wait.
You stay out of the way. You listen to their voice when they talk to someone else. You watch their face when you walk into the room.
At some point, they start talking to you again.
Nobody says anything about it.
