I Don’t Really Know What I Want

I don’t really know what I want.

Ask me where I want to eat and I’ll probably say I don’t care. Ask what I want to do this weekend and I’m usually fine with whatever everyone else wants to do. Those things don’t bother me much.

It gets harder with bigger things.

What kind of work do I actually want to do? Where do I want to live? Do I want to stay in this relationship? What would I do with my life if I could choose anything?

I don’t know.

I can usually tell you what makes sense. What I can afford. What would be practical. What other people are expecting from me.

Sometimes I can tell you what I don’t want. But ask me what I actually want, and I’m not sure there’s an answer.

Maybe I’m just not someone who wants very much.
