I like people. I have friends I enjoy spending time with. I like going out sometimes. I can have a good time at dinner or spend hours talking with someone I care about.

But people exhaust me.

After a few hours, I’m ready to go home. If I’ve been around people all day, I don’t want to talk to anyone that evening.

Sometimes I’m relieved when plans get cancelled, even when I was looking forward to them.

It’s not that anything bad happens. I can have a perfectly good time and still come home feeling like I need to recover from it.

So I make sure I have time alone. I try not to schedule too many things close together. If I know I have a busy weekend, I start looking forward to Monday.

Maybe I’m just an introvert.

I do like people.

I just seem to like them better when I know I can go home.
