I Sleep, but I Never Feel Rested

I sleep. Usually enough, I think.

I go to bed tired. I sleep for seven or eight hours. Sometimes I sleep even longer on the weekend.

But I rarely wake up feeling rested.

Some mornings I feel like I could stay in bed for another three hours. Other mornings I’m awake, but it takes forever to feel like I’m actually functioning.

By the middle of the morning, I’m usually fine. I get going. I do what I need to do.

But it never feels like I started the day with a full tank.

Sometimes I hear people say they woke up feeling refreshed. I’m not even sure I know what that feels like.

Maybe I’m just not a good sleeper. Maybe I need more sleep than other people.

I don’t know. I just wish sleep made me feel like I’d slept.
