I thought I’d be further along by now.
I don’t know exactly what I expected. More money, maybe. A better job. A house. A relationship that lasted. Something that made it feel like I had actually gotten somewhere.
I look at people I’ve known for years and wonder how they did it. They built careers. Bought homes. Raised families. Saved money. They seem settled in a way I never quite became.
It’s not that I’ve done nothing with my life. I’ve worked. I’ve learned things. I’ve had relationships. There are things I’m proud of.
But somehow it doesn’t add up to what I thought it would.
Sometimes I wonder if I made the wrong choices. Maybe I wasted too much time. Maybe I should have worked harder or stuck with things longer.
I know there’s no point comparing myself to other people. But sometimes I look at my life and think:
I should be further along by now.
