Nobody Is There When I Need Them

I’m there when people need me.

If someone calls, I answer. If they’re having a hard time, I listen. If they need help with something, I try to help.

But when I need somebody, it’s different.

People are busy. They don’t answer. They say they’ll call back and forget. Or I finally tell someone what’s going on and somehow the conversation ends up being about them.

After a while, I stopped expecting much. I still help people. That’s just who I am.

But I’ve learned to handle my own problems. It’s easier that way.

Nobody is there when I need them.
